Jody's First Bag

A mother of a friend of mine asked me to make her two bags based on her specifications. The first bag was to be navy linen. Airy and casual for summer but elegant enough for her profession. Subtle but snazzy. Simple but functional. It was a challenge (and I don't "think" in navy). but I really like the result. It's more substantial than it looks - the soft interlining adds some body without stiffness. It feels good (which I think is the test of any bag). The flowery strip comes from a Japanese fat quarter I've cherished for a long while - it has a bit of gold on it which is classy. The navy-stitched flower linen (on the lining) felt like a find. She'll be able to wear it over her shoulder or in her hand. On to bag #2...

I am seriously confiscating that bag, since it's my mom and all.
